“We chose Jababeka Industrial Estate because of the excellent customer service, strategic location and accessibility”states Richard Yu (GM & Indonesia Operations Manager of PT Liwayway)."
In addition, criteria such as availability of water, electricity and other infrastructure are met in Kota Jababeka and are important for choosing a location for a manufacturing plant. Richard Yu explains that “we were able to commence operations on a short notice because Jababeka provided us with ready to use factory buildings catered to our needs”.
Philippine multinational company PT Liwayway is the manufacturer of the Oishi brand that offers over 50 variants of snack products. Liwayway is present in the Philippines, China, Vietnam and Myanmar and expanded into Indonesia in 2006, setting up a manufacturing factory in Kota Jababeka’s industrial estate. Richard Yu expects to manufacture entirely for the large Indonesian domestic market within 2-3 years.
Liwayway acquired 2 hectares of land and 4 standard factory buildings (SFB’s) for its initial operations with 70 employees. Now, Liwayway employs more than 600 people and has acquired an additional 3 hectares of land, which can be used for future expansions. Liwayway is one of many manufacturers from the food and consumer industries in Kota Jababeka, such as Unilever, Nissin, Sari Roti, Nabisco, Sekar Laut and KAO.
