Economic Empowerment Program PDF Print E-mail

The Economic Empowerment Program is based on the condition that most local communities cannot enter the formal sector due to competition with newcomers. At the same time, they really need a job and/or extra income. The Economic Empowerment Program is the most appropriate way to develop local economic activities with which the community can generate much needed income. The aim of this program is to support small businesses, owned by local people, by helping them improve their business growth, both in terms of turnover and employment.

Jababeka prioritizes local people, who have a potential embryo business to develop, to be the recipient of The Economic Empowerment Program. The programs include the provision of loans without interest to the businesses of the local community, which include farms (agricultural and livestock holders) and home industries of foods and crafts. The funds are not grants, but need to be repaid through a mortgage loan tailored to the ability of each business. The intention is to educate the public to be responsible in using the provided funds.

First, these initiatives are focused on the people residing in the 13 nearest villages surrounding Jababeka’s industrial estate, which area is referred to as Ring I. Second, these activities are dedicated to educate people outside Ring 1 through existing programs.

In addition, the Economic Empowerment Program includes providing job training and mentoring in accessing new markets. The loan and coaching assistance that is provided are expected to help improve welfare through the movement of local economic activity, which benefits can be felt directly by the local community.
