Road to Jababeka Silicon Valley (Correctio): Build a Net-Zero Industrial Cluster Ecosystem in Correctio, Jababeka Signs MoU with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
Jakarta, 18th August 2022 – Jababeka strategic initiative to establish Correctio area, which is believed to be “The Next Silicon Valley” in Indonesia is still in full swing. Various partnership established by PT Jababeka Tbk as a form of sincere commitment to the development of this area. Previously Jababeka had established a partnership with other national institution such as BRIN, Indogen, BISA AI, and Telkomsel, so it is not a first time.
With the support of its partnership, Jababeka joined forces this time with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), an international company from Japan with its decades of reputation in the energy system, infrastructure, and manufacturing sector. This cooperation is officially ratified and signed through the signing of the MoU by Agung Wicaksono as Managing Director of PT Jababeka Infrastructure and Shinji Kobayashi as President Director of MHI Indonesia at Thursday (18/8/2022) in Batavia Tower, Jakarta.
Through this cooperation, MHI Indonesia and Jababeka will initiate a feasibility study on the use of District Cooling System which will also be shown in Fabrication Lab (Fablab) Jababeka. District Cooling System or also known as centralized area cooling system, will be supplying the coolant to the whole area with high cooling capacity low electric power, so that it can reduce the carbon emission in Correctio.
Agung Wicaksono in his opening remarks at Thursday 18th August 2022 added that, “this cooperation aligns with Jababeka vision to realize a Net-Zero Industrial Cluster in Correctio. This area will optimize the smart and green city concept. Therefore, this vision needs to be supported by the partnership with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries that provides the District Cooling System facilities in the area.”
This cooperation to create Correctio which will not only becoming the largest and the first technology-based business hub in Indonesia, but also becoming an industrial area that supports green ecosystem and renewables. Shinji Kobayashi as President Director of PT MHI Indonesia stated, “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group has provided innovative solutions and is integrated in various industries across the world since 130 years ago, which covers energy system, power plant system, infrastructure, logistics, coolant system and others.”
Furthermore, Shinji Kobayashi also expresses that, “our objective is to contribute towards the advancement of society. Therefore, we will continue to accurately identify the needs of industry accurately as well as provide insightful world class solutions in the future. As a partner of Jababeka that will play a role in the development of Correctio, MHI Group is encouraged to create a sustainable new way to develop this area, expanding the infrastructure, and innovating in the manufacturing of the area.”
Jababeka will also encourage its tenant in Jababeka Industrial Area to work together towards industry 4.0 with clean energy and renewables. This partnership is Jababeka strategic step aligning with the government vision pledging to reduce carbon emission by setting the Net Zero Emission target by 2060 or sooner. On the other hand, the opportunity that Jababeka has obtained together with startups and industry in Correctio is the creation of green jobs and sector de-carbonization.
This partnership is also established welcoming the G20 momentum and also Business 20 (B20) in Indonesia next November. Jababeka and MHI plays an active role in G20 during Indonesia’s leadership in 2022. In Business 20 (B20) as business community dialogue partner for G20, the ranks of Jababeka and MHI leadership both occupy the position of deputy and Co-Chair of B20 Taskforce for Energy, Sustainability and Climate. Therefore, this cooperation becomes a part of escorting the energy transition towards net-zero and a business action within the framework of Indonesia’s G20 leadership in 2022.
After holding a number of strategic partner from BRIN, Indogen, BISA AI, Telkomsel and MHI, Jababeka will continue to keep on producing breakthroughs and other strategic steps in order to support the creation of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 In Correctio area. This is nothing but to meet the needs of industries and startups whose ecosystems will be integrated in Correctio, the area that is believed to be The Next Silicon Valley in Indonesia.
