Commission VII of the DPR Appreciates Jababeka as a Top National Industrial Estate

Cikarang, August 28, 2025 – COMISSION VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), through the Industry Competitiveness Working Committee, conducted a working visit to the Cikarang Dry Port located in the Jababeka Industrial Area, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency.
This visit was led by Evita Nursanty, the Head of the Working Visit Team of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, accompanied by the Deputy Chairperson of Commission VII, Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, and various members, along with various stakeholders, namely the President Director of PT. Jababeka Infrastructure Didik Purbadi, the President Director of Cikarang Dry Port Benny Woenardi, the Ministry of Industry, and the management of Jababeka Group.
Directly observing Jababeka’s management of the industrial area.
The presence of the parties here marks an important momentum in the effort to strengthen the competitiveness of the national industry. In his remarks, the Industry Competitiveness Working Group of Commission VII stated that the purpose of this visit is to directly observe the success story of Jababeka as the first private industrial estate developer in Indonesia that has successfully built and managed industrial areas for more than 36 years.
This visit also serves as an opportunity to hear direct input from Jababeka and business actors, such as PT. Mondelez Indonesia Manufacturing and PT. URC Indonesia, in order to enhance industrial competitiveness in the future. Thus, Indonesia’s industrial areas can become more competitive compared to other countries, attract more investment, and create new jobs.
The Competition Industry Working Committee also highlights that building new industrial areas today is not easy, unlike in the 1990s when industrial growth could reach 9.5%. Currently, industrial growth is only around 4-5%, whereas Indonesia once achieved an economic growth of 7.3%. To achieve the government’s target of 8% economic growth, industrial growth needs to be increased to 9-10%. One of the strategic steps required is to improve regulations by expediting the discussion on the Draft Law (RUU) on Industrial Zones.
Therefore, the visit of the Industry Competitiveness Working Committee of Commission VII of the Indonesian Parliament to Jababeka is an important initiative to directly observe the real sector in the center of Indonesia’s manufacturing industry, namely the Jababeka and Karawang areas. Jababeka itself is not only the first private industrial area built with business investment financing, but also an area that has the most complete and integrated infrastructure. It includes power plants, dry ports (Cikarang Dry Port), as well as facilities for education, health, sports, hotels, leisure, golf courses, worker housing, expatriate housing, condotels, shopping centers, and other commercial facilities.
With this completeness, Jababeka has developed from merely an industrial area into an integrated urban area, where people work, live, and engage in activities within a comprehensive ecosystem.
Facilitate the supply chain of the industry.
“This Cikarang Dry Port is one of the strategic facilities located within the Jababeka Industrial Estate to support the industrial area, especially in the Bekasi and Karawang corridors. The presence of the dry port has proven to facilitate logistics flow by reducing distribution costs, speeding up processes, and increasing efficiency,” said Didik Purbadi.
“The Cikarang Dry Port is also the only dry port whose system is integrated with Customs, as well as the entry and exit hubs for goods, ranging from ports, airports, land transportation to shipping services, all connected in a single platform developed by Cikarang Dry Port,” he added.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of the Industrial Zone Bill as a legal foundation that can create certainty and consistency in regulation in the development of industrial zones in Indonesia. With this bill, it is hoped that the licensing process can be shortened and made more efficient, the management of zones will be more professional, and collaboration between the government and the private sector can be strengthened.
The Industrial Estate Bill also serves as a strategic instrument to attract investment, strengthen supporting infrastructure, and provide appropriate incentives for industry players. Ultimately, this regulation is believed to not only enhance the competitiveness of the national industry in the global market but also open up broader and sustainable job opportunities for the community.
Various parties released exports to the Ivory Coast.
The series of visits is accompanied by a ceremony for the release of exports of 10 containers to Côte d’Ivoire by PT. URC Indonesia. The export release was symbolically conducted through a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Chairperson and members of the Industry Competitiveness Working Committee of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the Ministry of Industry, and the Jababeka Group. PT. URC Indonesia chose Cikarang Dry Port as the export location due to its advantages in providing cost efficiency, speed of time, and certainty of logistics services for industry players.
The Acting (Plt.) Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika, who attended the event, emphasized that the export release is a concrete proof of the national industry’s contribution to supporting economic growth.
“We hope that export activities will continue to increase in the future and inspire Indonesian manufacturing industry players to have confidence and enhance their export activities,” he stated.
With a track record of success spanning more than three decades, supported by the completeness of the area’s facilities, and the presence of Cikarang Dry Port as the first inland port in Indonesia, Jababeka consistently offers integrated industrial area development solutions. This working visit also reinforces the synergy between the government, the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, industrial players, and area managers in strengthening the industrial base and expanding access to global markets, in order to enhance the competitiveness of the national industry.
