Consortium of PT Jababeka Tbk with PT Samudera Indonesia Tangguh

On 15 October 2020 the Consortium of PT Jababeka Tbk (“the Company”) together with PT Samudera Indonesia Tangguh (“SIT”) submitted an Implementing Business Entity and Government Cooperation Project (Badan Usaha Pelaksana Proyek Kerjasama Pemerintah) pre-qualification procurement document with the Patimban Port Business Entity of the West Java Province (“the Project”) to the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia in accordance with an invitation letter submitted to the Samudera Group and the announcement that was issued by the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia Directorate General of Sea Transportation on 3- September 30 2020.
On 12 October the Company started its collaboration with the Samudera Group by forming a consortium, which is led by SIT and named the “Samudera-Jababeka Consortium”.
Jababeka as a city developer based on industrial estates, which has industrial estates in Cikarang and Kendal, is very supportive of the government’s efforts that aim to smoothen logistics activities, especially in West Java, so as to strengthen the competitiveness of the national industries. In terms of location compared to Tanjung Priok international seaport, Patimban is closer to the production centers and factories of the Jababeka Industrial Estate and its surroundings, which are currently the largest export-import activity center in Indonesia. For this reason it can be expected that participating in the Project can be a business opportunity for the Company besides being able to reduce logistics costs for both domestic distribution and export. The Company also owns the Cikarang Dry Port, which has been operating in the Jababeka Industrial Estate since 2011 with an annual throughput of nearly 100,000 TEUs.
“We welcome the invitation for cooperation and creating synergy from Samudra Indonesia as they already have experience in the logistics business and as a terminal operator and we believe it makes sense to jointly participate in the implementation of the Patimban Port pre-qualification process. We will study the terms and conditions in more detail if we pass the pre-qualification stage while of course paying close attention to our to compliance requirements, especially those of our global bond indenture, as well as capital market regulations as a public company” said Budianto Liman, President Director of PT Jababeka Tbk.
