IBCSD Together with Jababeka NZICC Hold Workshop to Encourage Acceleration of Tenant Energy Transition
Cikarang – INDONESIA Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) in collaboration with Jababeka Net Zero Industrial Cluster Community (Jababeka NZICC) successfully held a workshop entitled “Company Capacity Building for Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization of Energy Sources” at the Sunerra Antero Hotel, Jababeka, on Thursday (3/10).
The purpose of this workshop is to increase the understanding and knowledge of companies in the Jababeka Area regarding the energy transition and decarbonization strategies needed to achieve the net zero emission commitment. The workshop was attended by 20-25 industrial companies.
Dr. Indah Budiani, Executive Director of IBCSD, gave a speech highlighting the importance of synergy in accelerating steps toward sustainability.
“The energy transition is a key element in the journey to net zero. With knowledge-sharing sessions and resources related to the energy transition for businesses like this, we can accelerate the step towards a low-carbon future,” explained Indah.
Participants were also invited to interact through an introduction session of IBCSD and KADIN Net Zero Hub (NZH). “IBCSD is committed to encouraging sustainable business practices that not only meet today’s needs but also ensure sustainability for future generations,” said Aloysius Wiratmo IBCSD’s Program & Engagement Manager.
“By joining the NZH Chamber of Commerce, companies not only get access to resources and knowledge, but also the opportunity to collaborate on initiatives that support decarbonization and energy efficiency,” continued Aloysius Wiratmo, or as Wira is commonly called.
In the business energy transition workshop session, participants had the opportunity to discuss the meaning of business energy transition. They also gained insight into the six key elements of the energy transition, the implementation of efficient energy, and low-carbon energy sources relevant to decarbonization regulations in Indonesia.
Coupled with interactive sessions in the form of quizzes and questions and answers, IBCSD and Jababeka NZICC believe that it can better make workshop participants understand concrete steps that can be taken to support decarbonization and energy efficiency in their respective companies.
One of the easiest ways for companies to implement energy transition or decarbonization is to collaborate with industrial estate managers, such as Jababeka Infrastruktur as the manager of the Jababeka Area. Yes, Jababeka is committed to achieving the SDGs and net zero targets through Core Decarbonization, which empowers industrial tenants to carry out emission mitigation and sustainability actions independently, giving them full authority over the environmental impact of their operations. One example that has been done by PT Mattel Indonesia is the use of 100% FSC-certified paper for packaging.
In addition, there is also a Systemic Decarbonization approach that prioritizes collaboration between tenants for systemic mitigation actions, including the construction of regional facilities and infrastructure that support sustainability. With these two strategies, Jababeka seeks to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to sustainable economic growth in the region.
In addition, hopes that this workshop can strengthen the cooperation network between Jababeka NZICC and IBCSD to build a more solid and synergistic collaboration. In addition, he also hopes that this workshop can encourage the acceleration of a faster energy transition in industrial estates.
In this context, the collaboration will not only benefit both parties but will also contribute to global efforts to reduce carbon footprint and improve sustainability. By integrating various initiatives and innovations, this workshop is expected to concretely enable industrial companies to create more efficient and environmentally friendly energy solutions, as well as support the application of the latest technologies that can facilitate the energy transition.
