Jababeka Collaborates with China Everbright to Achieve Net Zero Industrial Cluster 2050

BANDUNG – PT Jababeka Tbk (KIJA) through one of its subsidiaries PT Jababeka Infrastruktur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a company from China called China Everbright Environment Group Limited.

The company is believed to be the largest environmental company in China and is listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. This collaboration was established by Jababeka as one of the steps to realize its commitment to become a Net Zero Industrial Cluster 2050. After the signing of this MoU, China Everbright Environment Group Limited will be the party that manages industrial waste throughout the Jababeka-Cikarang Industrial Estate.

Zhou Jun, Vice President of Manufacturing Sector China Everbright Environment Group Limited, explained that his company supports Jababeka’s steps, especially in waste management and anything related to environmental sustainability.

“We are together in order to achieve the goal, namely carbon neutral or net zero emissions by 2050,” Zhou said when met at an event entitled Jababeka Eco Summit, at the Ballroom, Mason Pine Hotel, West Bandung, Thursday (31/08/2023).

Because of the goals made until 2050, Zhou Jun expects the cooperation to be carried out in the long term. He added that the way of processing waste carried out by the Chinese company Everbright is using waste-to-energy (WTE) methods.

“That’s the technology called WTE, processing waste through combustion to produce energy,” he said.

Prior to the signing of the MoU, Jababeka held a declaration with tenants who had set a commitment to be part of the forum now referred to as Jababeka Cikarang – Net Zero Industrial Cluster Community (JC-NZICC) in an event titled Jababeka Eco Summit 2023.

Jababeka Eco Summit is the culmination of a series of events that began on July 25 in the form of a hybrid Focus Group Discussion. The series continued with sustainability action in the form of mangrove planting which is Jababeka’s annual agenda, Jababeka Ecoweek and was held on August 3, 2023.
