More than 200 Athletes Participate in the Asia-Level Lion Dance Competition, Jababeka Go Asia

Cikarang, October 23, 2025 – KOTA Jababeka Cikarang is an independent city developed by PT Jababeka Tbk since 1989. Currently, this area spanning thousands of hectares is home to more than 2,000 national and international companies from Japan, Korea, China, and various other countries. To celebrate this diversity, this year, Jababeka is hosting Jababeka Go Asia: The 7th Asian Dragon & Lion Dance Championship,” said Ivonne Anggraeni, President Director of PT Graha Buana Cikarang.

The Jababeka Go Asia Event: The 7th Asian Dragon & Lion Dance Championship is an Asian-level lion and dragon dance competition held through a collaboration between the Indonesian Association of Lion & Barongsai (PLBSI), the Dragon & Lion Dance Federation of Asia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), and Jababeka as the host.
The opening on October 17, 2025, was attended by the President Director of PT Graha Buana Cikarang – Ivonne Anggraini, Head of Township Division of PT Graha Buana Cikarang – Albert Mulyono, East Cikarang Police Chief – AKP Sugiharto SH, Acting Head of Tourism Office – H. Dede Mauludin, HS. S.STP., MM, Representatives from Kemenpora, Representatives from the DKI Provincial Government, General Chair of PLBSI – Prof. Dr. Nurdin Purnomo, judges, athletes from participating countries, and many others.

This prestigious international competition was attended by more than 200 participants from various countries, including Macau, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, and Malaysia, who competed for the championship title. The event took place from October 18–20, 2025, at the President University Convention Center, Cikarang.

The lion dance and dragon dance originate from China and have existed for thousands of years. These dances symbolize luck, prosperity, peace, and bravery. In Indonesia and around the world, this art form continues to develop as festival entertainment, and in 2013 it was designated as an official sport at both national and international levels.
“Through this competition, we hope to continue supporting cultural diversity and the growth of lion dance sports. Additionally, we are optimistic that this event can boost the Jababeka tourism sector on the international stage,” added Ivonne.
