Officially Launched Correctio, Jababeka Is Ready to Build a Silicon Valley Ecosystem for Collaboration between Start-ups, Academia, Business, and Government
Jakarta, 8 September 2022 – PT Jababeka Tbk’s concrete actions to realize the Silicon Valley area in Indonesia have been continuously rolled out, starting with various strategic partnerships in collaboration with the government to international partners and the launch of CORE as the first commercial area in Correctio.
Right on September 8, 2022, the Silicon Valley area was officially launched with the title ‘The Grand Launching of Correctio’ which was held at the President University Convention Center, Bekasi, West Java. The inauguration was opened by a number of figures including the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita who was represented by Andi Rizaldi, ST, MM as Expert Staff of the Minister of Business Climate and Investment, Governor of West Java Dr. H. Mochamad Ridwan Kamil, S.T., M.U.D, Acting Bekasi Dr H. Dani Ramdan, MT, Managing Director of Jababeka Residence Marcus Lee and not left behind director of PT. Jababeka Tbk Sutedja Sidarta Darmono.
Since 1940, the Silicon Valley region in the United States has developed as a technology center through the infusion of top university graduates who are encouraged to become entrepreneurs. To quote Paul Graham, the essential value of Silicon Valley is its community, “If you can move the right 10,000 people from Silicon Valley to Buffalo, then Buffalo will become Silicon Valley”, he said.
This is in line with the vision of PT Jababeka Tbk to realize Correctio. “It’s not just about making one region happen, but what can be offered to the community. Correctio has a capable ecosystem based on 4.0, providing access for Start-ups and Industries to research institutions, venture capitalists, governments, technology solution providers and manufacturing solutions incorporated in one region,” said Sutedja Sidarta Darmono.
Also opening the Grand Launching of Correctio, Ridwan Kamil as the Governor of West Java said “In 2045 Indonesia will become a country with a superpower economy. West Java with extraordinary potential is represented by Jababeka in particular, ready with infrastructure, human resources, and economy to build innovative and world-class development”.
The Governor of West Java, who is familiarly called Kang Emil, also emphasized the importance of collaboration, in line with Correctio’s vision which will combine the ecosystem of start-ups, academia, business, and government in the region.
Acting Regent of Bekasi Dr. H. Dani Ramdan, MT in his speech also gave support for the nation’s children to continue to innovate in realizing Correctio “Millennials and Gen Z must have big dreams to advance Indonesia. Must have a spirit of creativity to create innovations for industry 4.0. Must dare to make a new breakthrough to create a moving start-up in the field of tech engineering. Providing ideas for efficiency from the production that we create in Indonesia,” he said.
On this occasion, Expert Staff of the Minister of Business Climate and Industrial Investment Andi Rizaldi, ST, MM said “I appreciate Jababeka’s efforts in realizing correctio which was inaugurated today. I congratulate you on this collaboration, hopefully the existence of Correctio can motivate start-ups and industries in Indonesia to continue to develop towards Industry 4.0”
The three pillars of Correctio include Society 5.0., Industry 4.0., and TOD (Transit Oriented Development). Start-ups and industries at Correctio will be born from graduates of President University or other well-known universities through the Hackathon program, the result of a collaboration between Jababeka and BISA AI.
This program will be a magnet for start-ups to develop in Correctio for the potential funding and other facilities that Jababeka has built with strategic partners. The sustainability of start-ups in Correctio is believed to continue to survive because its products or services have the potential to be used by 2000 industries from 30 countries occupying the Jababeka area.
Director of PT. Jababeka Tbk Sutedja Sidarta Darmono then conveyed several facilities that will be developed in Correctio in the future, “In this area, a number of world-class facilities will be developed that are ready to support the development of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 such as the development of district cooling systems, the application of solar panels, urban farming, Fabrication Labs, data centers, smart command centers, and many more and are not left behind by the development of TOD-based cities to make it easier accessibility.”
Correctio, located in Cikarang, carries great potential because it coincides with the agglomeration of the largest industrial area in Asia, a region that has triggered the growth of the country’s economy. This area has also been equipped with a TOD-based urban planning design that can be reached by LRT, MRT, high-speed trains, damri and highways that support easy community access for public transportation, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Through partnerships that have previously been established with BRIN, Indogen, BISA AI, Telkomsel, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Auk Industries, Gamatechno, Arcstone, Sembcorp, and PIDI of the Ministry of Industry, Jababeka has opened access for start-ups and industries to continue to develop and produce innovations and technology-based solutions at Correctio. The real implication of one of these collaborations is that Indogen as a Venture Capital has succeeded in facilitating Jababeka Group to inject its funds into Shipper, which is currently included in the Start-up centaur category aka prospective unicorns.
Correctio also provides a special space for Start-ups at the Jababeka Fabrication Lab (FabLab), where Start-ups can be creative to produce cutting-edge solutions through various facilities be it machines, robots, or AI provided. This is not enough without the direct involvement of research partners, therefore BRIN is present as an institution that supports the research needs of start-ups in this region.
This Grand Launching event is also the momentum for the opening of FabLab Correctio which has officially become a satellite of PIDI 4.0 of the Ministry of Industry. In realizing Industry 4.0. and Society 5.0, Jababeka together with partners such as Telkomsel will accelerate the growth of start-ups with 5G networks, IoT (Internet of Things) facilities, smart building systems, and fiber optic telecommunications networks.
In addition, there are other supporting industrial infrastructures such as Cikarang Dry Port, Bekasi Power and Cikarang Listrindo, Jababeka Industrial Estate, and Telecommunication Horizon Infrastructure (ICTel). This is Jababeka’s real action in realizing the Correctio area project as the largest technology-based business innovation center.
Correctio is also closely related to smart cities that support the development of Society 5.0 in Jababeka, which is not only in industrial aspects such as the existence of energy-efficient electric cooling systems, renewable energy solar panels, green environment urban farming, and smart and safe command centers, but also on social aspects that will be accompanied by smart facilities and various activities such as theater, food pop ups, health and fitness facilities.
One of the series at the Grand Launching of Correctio was the creating new Silicon Valley in Indonesia talk show which presented several speakers, namely Prof. Chairy as Rector of President University, Tirta Wisnu Permana as Director of PIDI 4.0, Shinji Kobayashi as President Director of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Jen Tan as President Director of Sembcorp Energy Indonesia, Anindia Rahmawati as Manager of Enterprise Solutions – Manufacturing, Logistics and Transportation from Telkomsel, and Sofian Sibarani as the Founder of URBAN+.
This talk show was moderated by Agung Wicaksono as Managing Director of Jababeka Infrastruktur. It has been discussed how each of these institutions plays an essential role as a forerunner to the realization of Industry 4.0, Society 5.0 and TOD in Jababeka which is considered to be the perfect area for the creation of Silicon Valley in Indonesia.
The inauguration of Correctio should be interpreted as a golden opportunity to make the country’s economy more advanced. The entire Correctio ecosystem will support the rise of the country’s economy based on sustainable technology whose communities can excel in an increasingly competitive ecosystem in the future.
