Officially, the Government of Indonesia Sets Kendal into a Special Economic Zone
Kendal Industrial Estate, Central Java-Indonesia, which has been filled with 58 tenants since its establishment in 2016, has now officially embarked on a new status, namely the Special Economic Zone. With the status of the SEZ, investors will benefit a lot.
The Indonesian government has set Kendal as a new SEZ as of December 18, 2019, as stated in Government Regulation (PP) No.85 / 2019.
The PP explained that Kendal Industrial Estate has a geoeconomic advantage because the area is adjacent to Ahmad Yani Airport, Tanjung Emas Port, and is passed by the TransJawa Toll Road, the Pantura Line, and the Jakarta-Semarang-Surabaya Dual Railway Line.
“The Kendal SEZ has an area of 1,000 hectares located in Kaliwungu District and Brangsong District, Kendal Regency. From the area of land it will be divided into 3 zones which carry out 3 functions, namely export processing, logistic zones and industrial zones,” said Juliani Kusumaningrum as Head of Marketing & Sales Kendal Industrial Park, in Menara Batavia, 25th floor, Jakarta Pusat-Indonesia, recently.
Juliani also added that the Kendal SEZ has a geostrategic advantage, namely there are export-oriented industries, import substitution, high-tech products and application-based supporting industry 4.0.
With the new status that Kendal has, it means that investors who enter the Kendal KEK will get a lot of incentives, both tax, fiscal and customs. Such as for tax incentives, investors can get tax holiday incentives up to 100%. All depends on how much the amount of investment.
Juliani also hopes that the status of the new SEZ that is carried by Kendal Industrial Zone can make investors more interested in developing their business in Kendal SEZ.
The Kendal Special Economic Zone is the result of business from a trusted city developer company from Indonesia, namely Jababeka Group with a well-known developer from Singapore, Sembcorp Development. So, investors need not worry if they invest there because the two developers already have good credibility, and even the KEK Kendal is fully supported by the Indonesian government.
