PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Collaborates with PT Jababeka Tbk. and PT Jasa Sarana To Plan Cooperation on Phase 3 development of MRT Jakarta and Development of TOA in West Java Region—Bekasi

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) and PT Jababeka Tbk. agreed to explore cooperation related to the construction of phase 3 of the east-west trase MRT (Cikarang—Balaraja) and the development of transit-oriented areas (TOA) in the West Java–Bekasi (Jababeka) region. The agreement was outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding signed by President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) William Sabandar and Deputy President Director of PT Jababeka Tbk. Tjahjadi Rahardja, as well as Director of PT Jababeka Tbk. Sutedja Sidarta Darmono. The signing was witnessed by Managing Director of PT Jababeka Infrastruktur Agung Wicaksono, and Director of Business Development of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Farchad Mahfud, to follow up on this development cooperation.

On that occasion, there was also the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between PT Jasa Sarana related to the exploration of cooperation on rail-based mass transportation business plans, regional development, and integrated waste management in the station area and MRT TOD. The signing was also carried out by President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) William Sabandar and President Director of PT Jasa Sarana Hanif Mantiq.

“This cooperation will include discussion or exchange of information related to the provision of land for the construction of stations on the east-west line of the MRT (Cikarang-Balaraja), including the development of the TOD area, and the potential for mixed use investment by PT Jababeka, and waste management in the TOD area and MRT Station by PT Jasa Sarana,” said William. “The development of the Jakarta MRT network in the future will embrace many parties, no longer relying on single donors as they are today. Therefore, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) opens the widest cooperation opportunities with various parties in building and developing the MRT network,” he explained. The plan is that the memorandum of understanding with PT Jababeka Tbk. will last for the next two years and with PT Jasa Sarana it will last for the next year.

Responding to the signing, Tjahjadi Rahardja as Deputy President Director of PT Jababeka Tbk expressed his gratitude for the openness of PT MRT Jakarta which has opened a partnership space for PT Jababeka Tbk.

“MRT Jakarta has been operating for 3 years since March 2019. And in March this is also exactly 3 years later, it is the moment MRT Jakarta began the development cooperation phase 3 with partners from the private sector and bumd provinces outside Jakarta. And we are grateful, Jababeka City Area became the first private party to be given the opportunity to be invited (exploring) cooperation,” explained Tjahjadi.

Furthermore, Tjahjadi welcomed the collaboration plan with PT MRT Jakarta. Because this is in line with the transformation that Jababeka is creating in the Jababeka City Area, namely turning the Jababeka Area into a city with a city with a Transit Oriented Development (TOD City) concept.

Sutedja Sidarta Darmono added that the transformation effort was carried out because it saw the modes of transportation and infrastructure development “coincidentally” a number of meeting node points ended and began in the Jababeka City Area.

At least, there are 10 modern infrastructure developments that will exist around the Jababeka Area, such as stations and lines krl commuter line, elevated highway Jakarta – Cikampek which has been operating since December 2020, JORR II toll road, MRT phase III Jakarta-Balaraja, LRT Jakarta-Cikarang, High Speed Train Jakarta-Bandung, Patimban Port and Kertajati International Airport which has been operating since July 2019.

“But it’s not just a coincidence either. But also through the process of hard work, innovation, creativity, and cooperation with various parties. In order, between planning to make Jababeka Area as a TOD City with government programs can be aligned. One of the efforts is to sign a memorandum of understanding with the MRT, which we hope mrt Phase III Cikarang – Balaraja can be realized. So that the mission of jababeka city area to become TOD City can continue to show positive progress,” explained Sutedja who is also the President Director of Jababeka Residence.

Sutedja, explained, so far Jababeka as a TOD area has existed with the presence of public transportation with jabodetabek airport connexion services, Jabodetabek Residence Connexion, AKDP Bus at Hollywood Junction.  “In addition, in the near future, there will be a Damri Shuttle Bus service with the Cikarang Station route to Hollywood Junction,” explained Sutedja.

Sutedja is optimistic that this collaboration is going well and provides benefits and benefits to all parties. Jababeka will prepare everything needed so that the collaboration plan can enter a more serious advanced stage.

This was also agreed by the President Director of PT Jasa Sarana Hanif Mantiq, PT Jasa Sarana as a Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) of the West Java Provincial Government engaged in infrastructure development and regional development welcomed the partnership opportunities offered by PT MRT Jakarta, especially with the Jakarta MRT plan that will expand its scope to the West Java region.

Furthermore, BUMD PT Jasa Sarana is ready to participate in collaborating with BOTH PT MRT Jakarta and PT Jababeka Tbk. in accordance with its competence in transportation business, regional development, and integrated waste management, especially in the Transit Oriented Development area in the Jababeka area.

Hanif is optimistic that this collaboration goes according to plan and benefits all parties involved in it and BUMD Jasa Sarana will support all preparations needed in the future so that this cooperation plan can be realized according to the wishes of all parties.
