Road to Jababeka Silicon Valley: Jababeka Collaborates with BRIN, BISA AI, and Indogen to Build Silicon Valley Ecosystem for Startups
Jakarta, 21st July 2022 – in the second semester of 2022, PT Jababeka Tbk will launch the Jababeka Silicon Valley Project, a development project for a future innovation hub and the largest technology-based integrated contemporary business area dubbed as “The Next Silicon Valley” in Indonesia.
One of its objectives is to accelerate the growth of startup enterprises that will contribute towards Indonesia’s transition to Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0. To ensure the success of the program, PT Jababeka Tbk formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) together with BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency), BISA AI (PT Bisa Artificial Indonesia) and Indogen Capital.
The MoU was signed at Thursday, 21st July 2022, at Batavia Tower, Central Jakarta. The validation of this cooperation is opened by Tjahjadi Rahardja as General Director of Jababeka Infrastructure and attended by Agung Wicaksono as Managing Director of Jababeka Infrastructure, R. Hendrian M.Sc as Act. Deputy for Research Utilization and Innovation of the National Research and Innovation Agency, M. Octaviano Pratama as President Director of PT Bisa Artificial Indonesia and Chandra Firmanto as Managing Partner of Indogen Capital.
In his welcoming speech, Tjahjadi stated, “To Realize Indonesia 4.0, PT Jababeka Tbk is committed to create the supporting environment as well as ecosystem, so that all stakeholders could utilize the technology sustainably and efficiently. In this case, the engagement of BRIN, Indogen Capital, and BISA AI in this situation served as a strategic move to enable the industrial participants to join in an environment that is not only tech-savvy, but also creative and collaborative”.
Meanwhile, Agung Wicaksono as Managing Director of Jababeka Infrastructure expresses that the cooperation itself is being implemented in line with the company’s vision for the development of Jababeka Silicon Valley project as an innovation hub and contemporary business area that will house startup enterprises in Indonesia and offer a solution to both industrial participants and the general public.
Through cooperation with BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency), Jababeka will facilitate the needs of research and data for startup enterprises and industries needs in the area.
“To make this project as the next Silicon Valley in Indonesia, one of the initiatives we have taken is to cooperate with BRIN. This becomes a stimulant towards startup enterprises as well as corporations around Jababeka area so that they are able to generate new innovations based on research and data”, stated Agung during the Jababeka Press Conference, Thursday (21/7/2022).
This is welcomed by R. Hendrian M.Sc as Act. Deputy for Research Utilization and Innovation of the National Research and Innovation Agency. He explained that, “In cooperation with Jababeka, we hope that we can provide support for increasing activities and utilizing research and innovation results, especially towards startup enterprises and industry in Jababeka. In which BRIN as of currently has 12 research organization and 85 research center that collaborates.”
Furthermore, Hendrian also mentioned that BRIN has programs that can be utilized together to support this program such as E-catalog innovation, super tax deduction as well as a competitive funding program by collaborating with BRIN researcher, such as Research-Based Startup Company Program (PPBR), Research and Innovation for Advanced Indonesia (RIIM), and other programs.

Jababeka is also going to host a Hackathon program in 2022, where startup enterprises who is participating in the program will be attending the following series of processes starting from mentorship, competitions, demo days, and incubation programs. During the process, startup enterprises may utilize FABLAB Jababeka facilities and will be given an intensive coaching by BISA AI Academy.
In response M. Octaviano Pratama as President Director of PT Bisa Artificial Indonesia stated that the assistance of this initiative falls within the purview of BISA AI. He also said,”100 startups participating in the Hackathon program are not only challenged to come up with the most innovative solution and potential for current industrial challenges, but they are also trained to generate traction and revenue through various intensive training and mentoring.
BISA AI Academy is currently a partner on the implementation of Kampus Merdeka Internship Program and Certified Independent Studies of Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. More than 1000 students enrolled in this program to develop their digital startup enterprises in accordance with the programs planned by Jababeka. Afterwards, students will get an activity container that has been designed for digital startup enterprises.
Importantly, BISA AI is a digital learning edutech platform that specializes for learning Artificial Intelligence and its subset including Data Science, Data Engineering, NLP, Machine Learning, and other scientific fields that supports the acceleration to society 5.0.
Other than receiving mentorship from BISA AI, coached startup enterprises will also receive the opportunity to cooperate with 2000 national and multinational tenant that is located in Jababeka area, in addition to other facilities.
This strategic move by PT Jababeka Tbk and its 3 partners, BRIN, Indogen Capital, and BISA AI is believed to be the first step towards realizing the vision of Jababeka Silicon Valley Project as an innovation hub and integrated business which not only equates with the most cutting edge facilities and technology that can be utilized, but also becoming a cozy and ideal area to foster new ideas with the integrated and complete ecosystem, PT Jababeka Tbk will continue to initiate new cooperation between other cross-sectoral partners to support the realization of Jababeka Silicon Valley towards society 5.0.
