SD Darmono Receives ‘The Legacy’ Honorary Trophy at the 2025 Golden Property Awards

September 29, 2025, JAKARTA – The GOLDEN Property Awards 2025, Indonesia’s most prestigious property awards, held every two years, have just taken place. Entering its tenth year, this year’s Golden Property Awards (GPA) gave special recognition to several figures who have made significant contributions to the advancement of Indonesia’s property business.

In the awards event themed ‘The Legacy’, GPA presented The Legacy Award to Setyono Djuandi (SD) Darmono, Founder and President Director of PT Jababeka Tbk. SD Darmono himself is known as the founder of Jababeka and the initiator of the independent city in Indonesia. The industrial area in Cikarang that he developed in 1989 has grown and transformed into one of the largest modern independent cities in Southeast Asia. It is now home to more than 1.2 million people, accommodating over 2,000 national and multinational companies with a workforce of one million employees. The success in developing Kota Jababeka  has become a blueprint for the development of three independent city projects currently owned by Jababeka, namely the Kendal Industrial Park Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Tanjung Lesung SEZ, and Morotai SEZ.

“Thank you for the appreciation. This award is actually not for me personally, but the result of the hard work of many parties. From Jababeka employees, the government, business partners, to the community who trust us,” said SD Darmono, after receiving the award, at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, Monday (29/9).

In addition to SD Darmono, The Legacy award was also given to 16 other figures, including  (the late) Ciputra and Mochtar Riady. The event ran smoothly and vibrantly, attended by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).

Ali Tranghanda, CEO of Indonesia Property Watch – representing the GPA organizers, stated that the choice of the theme ‘The Legacy’ for the GPA, which is entering its 10th year, carries deep significance. This is because they want to show appreciation not only to the best projects and developers, but also to senior figures who have made tangible contributions to building Indonesia’s property industry.

“So, this is both a celebration and a tribute,” concluded Ali Tranghanda.
