Strengthening Commitment to Green Technology Industrial Estate, Jababeka Together with FFLI and Tenants Plant Hundreds of Trees

Cikarang, November 28, 2025 – GREENING or planting trees in independent city areas is very important in maintaining fresh air quality, creating a lush environment, and minimizing natural disasters (floods). Therefore, it can provide comfort for residents, improve employee performance, and make traveling through the area more comfortable.
Maintaining environmental sustainability and expanding green areas
This belief appears to be upheld by the managers of the Jababeka–Cikarang Industrial Estate, namely Jababeka Infrastructure – a subsidiary of PT Jababeka Tbk. One proof of this is that today, in commemorating Indonesia’s Tree Planting Day, Jababeka Infrastructure once again carried out a tree planting activity. At the event themed ‘Tanam Pohon, Dinginkan Bumi,’ as many as 200 trees were successfully planted at Jababeka Botanical Garden – Kota Jababeka.
The event of planting 200 trees was the result of a strategic collaboration between Jababeka and Forest For Life Indonesia (FFLI), a non-profit organization focused on forest ecosystem conservation and restoration. The event was attended by leaders and key figures who support environmental sustainability, including Didik Purbadi, President Director of PT. Jababeka Infrastruktur; Maj. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Sumardi, Head of the Jababeka City Council; Hadisusanto Pasaribu, Chairman of Forest For Life Indonesia (FFLI); and MS Kaban from FFLI and former Minister of Forestry from 2004–2009.

Hadisusanto Pasaribu explained that the purpose of this activity is to actively participate in environmental conservation, especially in the Jababeka area, which consists of industrial, residential, and commercial zones. Moreover, the area management shares the same commitment with FFLI to protect the environment through an annual greening program for the area.
“The movement to plant 200 trees is a tangible action in an effort to restore forest functions and respond to the high rate of forest degradation in Indonesia. This tree-planting activity clearly represents the real commitment of PT Jababeka Tbk and the industrial area managers not only to operate with green technology, but also to actively and responsibly preserve the environment and expand green spaces,” said Hadisusanto Pasaribu during the event.

MS Kaban added that “The damaged forest areas will recover if we intervene with a planting movement. It turns out that Jababeka has a truly extraordinary commitment to continuing the planting activities taking place today. The trees to be planted are also of various types, including rare trees. With this event, we want to provide an answer that damage must be addressed with improvements, namely by carrying out a movement to plant 200 trees in Jababeka City today.
Efforts Jababeka to Maintain Balance in the Area
Meanwhile, Didik Purbadi considers this activity very positive and important. He explained that collaboration through the planting of a number of trees has a significant impact on people living and carrying out activities in the Jababeka Area. This is because the presence of many trees in the area can reduce carbon emissions as well as decrease heat.
“The Jababeka Area is an industrial, residential, and commercial area, so we need to maintain a balance to keep the Jababeka Area cool and comfortable, ensuring that the community living and active there remains healthy. Therefore, tree planting activities are very important,” said Didik Purbadi.

He added that Jababeka has made tree planting an obligation for area managers in addition to maintaining the environment of their areas. This effort is part of the company’s commitment not only to operate with green technology but also to actively expand green spaces. Currently, about 20 hectares of the area have been designated as green space, and the Jababeka Botanical Garden is one of the reforestation locations carried out by Jababeka.
“In fact, today, the Jababeka Botanical Garden has developed into a recreational spot and sports area for the residents of Jababeka City during weekends due to the many trees and preserved ecosystems, just like a modern self-sufficient city,” said Major General TNI (Ret.) Sumardi, Head of the Jababeka City Council.

Not forgetting, Sumardi expressed his appreciation to several Jababeka tenants who attended and participated, namely Hanes Supply Chain Indonesia, Sika Indonesia, Fukoku Tokai Rubber Indonesia, Nippon Steel Chemical & Material Indonesia, Sari Takagi Elok Produk, Mane Indonesia, Shin Heung, Dharma Precision Part, Bekasi Power, and Sanjaya International.
“Hopefully, this tree planting can contribute, be beneficial, and help beautify the Jababeka area,” said Sumardi.
Responding to the enthusiasm for tree planting activities from Jababeka tenants, Hadi S. Pasaribu added, ‘Seeing the support and positive response from the Jababeka management, it is not impossible that we will hold follow-up activities, such as a special tree planting movement for aren trees. Because this type of tree has economic value as well as an extraordinary capacity for water storage.’
