Strengthening the Jababeka Medical City Ecosystem, President University Hospital Starts Operating in Kota Jababeka

Cikarang, October 10, 2026 – KOTA Jababeka, Cikarang, officially has a new hospital with the opening of President University Hospital. This comes after the operational permit was issued and construction and infrastructure were completed, marked by the launch of the President University Hospital logo on Saturday (10/10/2026).

The pilot hospital

The launch event was attended by Dr. Asep Surya Atmaja as Acting Regent of Bekasi Regency, Johanes Poso as President Director of PT Rumah Prima Sehat along with the board of directors, Prof. Budi Setiabudiawan as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at President University, Handa S. Abidin as Rector of President University, Prof. Dr. dr. Satyanegara, Sp.BS (K) as Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Faculty of Medicine at President University along with BoT members, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Susilo Soepandji, D.E.A from the President University Education Foundation.

President University Hospital is located on Jalan Niaga Raya in Bekasi Regency, covering an area of around 6,800 square meters. The hospital is part of the Jababeka Medical City ecosystem, following the establishment of the President University Faculty of Medicine. President University Hospital is designed to be developed as a hospital that integrates education, research, and healthcare services.

Setyono Djuandi (SD) Darmono, the founder of President University and founder & chairman of PT Jababeka Tbk, expressed his appreciation for the presence and support of the Bekasi Regency Government as well as various parties that have made it possible for President University Hospital to start operating.

“Today marks the launch of the hospital to our main stakeholders, who invited the Ministry of Health, the Bekasi Regency Government, the Bekasi Regency Health Office, tenants of the Jababeka Industrial Area, banks and insurance companies, and strategic partners. Thank you to everyone who has attended,” said SD Darmono in his speech.

He added that President University Hospital will be developed into an internationally-standard hospital, aiming to become one of the top choices for international patients seeking quality healthcare services in Bekasi Regency.

“For the initial stage, it’s just check-up services, so we can diagnose cancer early, while also training doctors to be on the same level as foreign doctors who can speak English, Japanese, and Mandarin. That way, foreigners will want to come here. Because if thousands of factories from 46 countries with many expatriates in Cikarang are just left without proper medical facilities, they will go for treatment to Singapore, Penang-Malaysia, or Australia. So, we hope that President University Hospital can become a pilot project for Bekasi Regency, and get support from the government and everyone,” he said.

Full support from the Bekasi regency government

Meanwhile, Dr. Asep Surya Atmaja also conveyed his congratulations and appreciation for the launch of President University Hospital in Jababeka City. According to him, one of his concerns in leading the Bekasi Regency government is that he wants the people of Bekasi Regency who are sick to have easier access to medical care.

“Alhamdulillah, today Bekasi Regency adds another hospital, from 55 hospitals to 56 hospitals. With the opening of President Hospital – which, God willing, will be developed specifically for cancer, hopefully it will become the center here,” said Dr. Asep Surya Atmaja.

He also encouraged President University Hospital to quickly be able to cooperate with BPJS Kesehatan. This is so that the people of Bekasi Regency who need medical services or are affected by cancer can get treatment at President University Hospital and be well taken care of to achieve recovery. Dr. Asep Surya Atmaja also expressed his commitment to supporting the development of President University Hospital.

“For matters related to regulations, bureaucracy, and licensing, I will oversee them. Especially since I am a doctor, I really prioritize health,” he said.

In agreement with that, Prof. Budi Setiabudiawan appreciated the vision, commitment, and tangible support from SD Darmono, the BoT of FKPU, and the board of directors of President University Hospital, which allowed President University Hospital to officially start operating quickly. This is because the Faculty of Medicine at President University was only established in 2023, yet in less than four years, President University Hospital has already come into existence.

Prof. Dr. dr. Satyanegara, Sp.BS (K), believes that President University Hospital will grow rapidly in a short time. This is because President University Hospital has already established international collaborations, both with Taiwan and China.

Prepare top-notch services

Meanwhile, Johanes Poso shared that he has already visited Taiwan and China to see the latest developments in cancer treatment. This knowledge and technology are expected to be applied at President University Hospital as a top service, so that the hospital can become one of the go-to places for cancer treatment.

After successfully developing a cancer center, they plan to develop a cardiac center or heart disease service center. These two services were chosen because cancer and heart disease are major health issues for many Indonesians.

Johanes Poso explained that President University Hospital has obtained a type D operational license and has prepared various health services. These include inpatient care with a capacity of 54 beds, an emergency department, clinics, surgical services, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and referral services. In addition, President University Hospital also provides specialist doctors, including pediatric and maternal health specialists, internal medicine, nutrition, as well as obstetrics and gynecology services.

The healthcare facilities that will start operating soon are the polyclinic and medical check-up (MCU) services. Meanwhile, the full launch of President University Hospital will take place in November 2026.

“Currently, we have 111 employees, including doctors, healthcare staff, administrative personnel, and hospital support staff,” said Johanes Poso.

Finalize operational preparations

Johanes Poso added that they are currently finalizing the last operational preparations, including hospital accreditation. “There will be an accreditation phase for President University Hospital. After the accreditation, there will be facilities available to serve BPJS Health for the general public,” he added.

Johanes Poso is optimistic that President University Hospital can provide optimal healthcare services once it is fully operational in November, even though the number of beds is still limited. Currently, there have been discussions to expand the bed capacity to 200 beds.

“We realize that this journey is still long and will take time to develop President University Hospital, but with the support of the founders, the FKPU Board of Trustees, international partners, and the management of President University Hospital, we believe this big dream can be achieved step by step.

I want to thank everyone who has helped and opened up opportunities for collaboration, so that President University Hospital can grow and become one of the cancer referral hospitals in the Jababeka area,” concluded Johanes Poso.

The event was attended by partners and several important guests, including Prof. Xu Kecheng, MD, a well-known cancer treatment and rehabilitation expert in China who is also a senior medical advisor at President University Hospital. In addition, tenants from the Jababeka Industrial Estate such as PT Prodia Diagnostic Line, PT Indo Sultan Jaya, PT Ethica Industrial Pharmaceuticals, as well as representatives from banks and private insurance companies, were also present.
